House of Histories
The museum is housed in a historic 18th-century building that once belonged to General Jonas Antanas Horain, a general in the army of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. During its long history, the building served as a military fortress, barracks, and a boarding school. Finally, since 2021, it has been a museum. The stories of the people told here are even more interesting than the building itself. Here you will find an impressive exhibition of examples of Lithuanian traditional architecture, interiors, and tools that were commonly used from the early 18th to the 20th centuries. These continue to inspire new generations of designers, artists, photographers, and other creatives. Undoubtedly, the greatest value that House of Histories offers is the opportunity to take part in one of many special guided tours and educational activities. It’s a way of not only getting to know some of the most outstanding examples of Lithuanian ethnographic art up close and personal but also gaining a better understanding of their significance and relevance today.
