National Gallery of Art

Standing on the bank of River Neris at the heart of Vilnius, the Lithuanian National Gallery of Art is a temple to the country’s best art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Paintings, sculptures, photographs and all other kinds of visual art pieces from the impressive collection maps the evolution of Lithuanian art.  The gallery’s architecture is as interesting as the collection inside – massive yet graceful rectangular stone volumes and glass walls are carefully integrated into the surrounding riverbank. Originally designed in the 1960s and reconstructed a little over a decade ago, the National Gallery combines features of modernist architecture with state-of-the-art technologies in its exhibition halls.
