More information
A wooden house in the Antakalnis district is a place of pilgrimage for visitors from around the world. Here, Sister Faustina experienced mystical visions that inspired the painting of the Image of Divine Mercy.
Located slightly away from Vilnius city center, the house once belonged to the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. Sister Faustina lived here in 1929 and again from 1933 to 1936 after joining the congregation. Here she experienced the visions later described in her diary. Based on these visions, artist Eugeniusz Kazimirowski painted the original image of Divine Mercy, which is now preserved at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Vilnius.
The House of Saint Faustina is included in the pilgrimage route The Route of Mercy in Vilnius, known as the City of Mercy. Every day at 3:00 p.m., the Chaplet of Divine Mercy – a prayer revealed to Sister Faustina during one of the apparitions – is prayed here.
