Although technically part of Klaipėda city, the Blue Flag beaches at Smiltynė can only be accessed via a short, fun ferry ride across the isthmus dividing the city from the Curonian Spit. Getting to the beach is a bit of a hike, but it’s through a lovely forest. And the beaches are lovely and well worth the walk.
Although technically part of Klaipėda city, the Blue Flag beaches at Smiltynė can only be accessed via a short, fun ferry ride across the isthmus dividing the city from the Curonian Spit. You can take either the car ferry or the bike/pedestrian ferry, but be aware that they depart from different places, and the carry ferry is EUR20 per car, while the bike/pedestrian ferry is only EUR1.50!
