Palanga Amber Museum and Birutė Park

Set inside the handsome grounds of botanical gardens of the Birutė Park estate, and housed in the splendour of Tiškevičius Manor, you’ll find the Amber Museum. One of the country’s most visited museums, with 30,000 exhibits, it offers one of the largest collections of amber in the world. One of its star attractions is the “Sun stone”, which at 3.5 kilograms makes it one of the biggest pieces of amber in Europe. Amber has long been connected to the Baltic Coast, where it has been gathered for millennia. In Roman times, it was the currency of exchange in the region, and you’ll find many historical, as well as modern examples. A gem of the museum (and an organic gem at that).
