Aukštaitija is a paradise for kayakers. Here, you can easily find perfect routes for the experienced, adventure seekers, and those simply wanting to relax in beautiful nature. Although the route is relatively long (about 19 km), it's easy to navigate – even first-time kayakers won't get too tired.

This Aukštaitija river flows for about 80 kilometers, mostly through sandy pine forests with steep banks, occasionally wandering into alder-covered marshes. Žeimena's most distinctive features are undoubtedly its 25-30m high slopes and the surrounding Labanoras Forest, full of spectacular views and filled with a magical atmosphere.

Although Žeimena's current is calm and not challenging, this doesn't mean that your trip will be boring. Idyllic Aukštaitija villages are scattered along its banks, and several tributaries flow into it – the Kiauna, Lukna, and Sirgėla. Žeimena is also unique in that it has no dams, so its water is exceptionally clean, and even salmon actively spawn here.

Travelling leisurely, you'll complete the kayaking section of the Žeimena River in just one day. Just don't forget to stop for a picnic lunch. Such a pause is also an ideal opportunity to walk a bit through the Labanoras Forest or examine the remains of the Vilnius-Petersburg railway line that once ran along the river.
