Lakaja is popular among water tourists mostly due to its uncomplicated route and picturesque banks full of discoveries. This short river of only 30 kilometers in length is the largest tributary of Žeimena, distinguished by its steady current and relatively great depth. This is because it is mainly fed by lakes scattered throughout the Aukštaitija forests.
The journey along the calm Lakaja begins at the Algirdiškė Bridge and continues until its confluence with the Žeimena. Along the way, you'll pass under wooden bridges, overcome a few fallen trees, and get to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Labanoras Forest.
By the way, if you want a more challenging and longer journey, Lakaja offers an alternative. The river itself actually begins at Lake Juodieji Lakajai, so if you wish, you can start your trip from there. Keep in mind that choosing this route will extend the journey to a couple of days.
