Discovering the Lakes of Aukštaitija in a Kayak
This journey begins at the strait separating Lakes Baluošas and Baluošykštis. Through the Skrežda stream, you'll reach Lake Srovinčias, then via the Srovė River, you'll paddle into Asėkas, and through the Dumblis River – to Linkmenys and Asalnykštis. The latter connects by a strait to the Asalnai Lake, which then connects to Lūšiai. In total, you'll cover 16.5 km in a day and visit seven different lakes.
And each of them is distinctive in its own unique way. For example, on the bank of Srovinaitis stands the famous Ginučiai mill, where you can swim or relax in the local café. Asėkas is one of the most fish-rich lakes in the country, so watch carefully what happens beneath the water's surface. On the bank of Linkmenys stands Ladakalnis, from which an incredible panorama unfolds. Meanwhile, on Asalnykštis, you can examine an island with one of the highest shorelines in Lithuania – Gimžiškė.
The Baluošas-Ginučiai-Palūšė route suits everyone. Both those keen to paddle more intensively and see as much as possible, and those wanting a calm day spent admiring nature. In any case, an unforgettable experience is guaranteed.
