Pranas Domšaitis Gallery

As the name suggests, Pranas Domšaitis Gallery hosts an extensive collection of works by this expressionist painter. Born in Lithuania Minor, Domšaitis spent the first twenty-seven years of his life as a farmer, but went on to study painting across Europe, later settling in Germany. There, his early influences of Lithuanian folk art were supplemented by the simplified and darkly outlined forms of German Expressionism and the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. At his gallery in Klaipėda, you can also see artwork of other Lithuanian émigré artists – painter Česlovas Janušas and sculptor Vytautas Kašuba.
