When it comes to romantic landscapes, Trakai is hard to beat. Its medieval castle, which you’ll see gently reflected on the water no matter where you go, offers an excellent opportunity for peaceful or active rest, as well as a bit of history-themed intrigue. Upon arriving at Trakai from Vilnius by train, bus, car or bike, we recommend you set aside the entire day for swimming in the lakes Akmena, Totoriškės, Galvė or Luka. For a bit to eat, you’ll have plenty of cool places to choose from – traditional Karaite restaurants serving the legendary kybyn, lake-side cafés, swanky lakefront bars, and a beach-side camping area where you can have a picnic of your own. The beach of the wellness and recreation park Slėnis (Valley), located on the northern bank of Lake Galvė, offers a boat and hydrocycle rental, a volleyball court, and comfy beach chairs for some quality R&R. Just a few hundred metres to the side you’ll also find a campsite and an observation deck that opens on a gorgeous panorama of the Trakai Castle Island and the Užutrakis Manor.
