Mūšos Tyrelis Educational Trail
The Mūšos Tyrelis swamp is home to a boardwalk stretching an impressive 6.7 km. This path is proudly listed in the Lithuanian Book of Records as the longest trail crossing a swamp or a marsh. The trail is meticulously laid within the ecologically significant Mūšos Tyrelis Telmatological Reserve, and features a bunch of interesting stops, including the restored chapel of the renowned monk, Father Stanislovas, and the mysterious Tyrelis stone engraved with pagan signs. A memorial stone marks an erstwhile partisan camp. Alongside, the pristine Miknaičių lakes adds its charm to the picture. In fact, it’s so enchanting, it once graced the cover of a National Geographic issue dedicated to Lithuania. And although the place is a part of the NATURA 2000 network, it can be explored independently, without a guide.
