Juodkrantė, one of the Curonian Spit's oldest settlements, beckons with its charm. Renowned for kitesurfing, the town also offers a unique experience on the Hill of Witches, featuring sculptures of demons and folklore figures
One of the oldest settlements on the Curonian Spit, the cosy town of Juodkrantė has much to offer. For active types, it's known as one of the best kitesurfing spots in Lithuania. But if you don’t feel like taming the wind, you can enjoy the unique pleasures of the Hill of Witches. Located within walking distance of the town centre, you’ll find a snaking path that winds upwards to the hill’s peak. And peppered along this trail, you’ll find sculptures of demons, witches, ghosts and all manner of figures from local folklore. The trail is especially fun for families looking for ways to motivate their kids to take a bit of exercise! Meanwhile, just outside the town, you’ll find one of the oldest and largest cormorant colonies in Europe (almost 2,000 birds nesting here). Not feeling adventurous? You can simply lie down in the sun on the unblemished sand of the town’s long beach.
