Tasting history by the Kaunas Lagoon
Built on the grounds of the Pažaislis Monastery ensemble in the 17th century by Kristupas Zigmantas Pacas, the Chancellor of the Great Duchy of Lithuania, the historic guest house Monte Pacis (lit. Mountain of Peace) is now a 4-star hotel and Michelin Guide Recommended restaurant. Here you can enjoy gourmet dishes made with locally grown vegetables and berries, wine from European monasteries, and both a la carte and tasting menus, all food being prepared by a crack team of master chefs under the direction of Head Chef Raimundas Dambrauskas.
As for the aesthetic part of the experience – Monte Pacis is quite the sight to behold. The Baroque grandeur and mystery of the building ensemble is further complemented by its expertly arranged interior that features numerous works of art. Monte Pacis is the first hotel in the Baltics admitted to the prestigious European Heritage Hotels Federation of Europe. And if you glance outside the window, you’ll be able to enjoy some choice views of the beautiful Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park.
