Boat Trip on Lake Asveja
Asveja lies in a unique land formation – it stretches for about 30 kilometers through a deep and winding valley. It is not only the country's longest lake but also one of its deepest. Due to its distinctive shape, Asveja is full of mysteries – you could wander through its bays for weeks and still not fully explore them all.
It's no wonder that various legends and stories have been created about Asveja since ancient times. For example, it is said that there are tunnels at the bottom of the lake that lead to the sea, or that it is protected by serpents. By the way, the latter fact is accurate. These animals indeed live here in great numbers. If you take a boat trip on the "Laumaris. Dubingiai" ship, you're bound to encounter them.
Such a boat trip is the best way to get to know Asveja and its surroundings, which, due to the high slopes, winding bays, and clear water, resemble the landscapes of Switzerland. The islands will definitely leave a lasting impression as well, with the most famous being Vainikų Island situated right in the middle of the lake. Archaeologists have even found traces of people who once lived there.
