The main attraction of the Kamanai Reserve is the Kamanos bog. But how can you traverse the bog?It turns out there's an educational trail (also adapted for wheelchair users) about 4 kilometres long. The reserve (and the trail) can only be visited with a certified guide due to the status of the reserve.
A guided walk lasts about 3 hours, during which you’ll get to observe how the dense mixed forest merges into the bog. The bog is surrounded by low, curved, age-old pines that reveal sparkling bog "lakes"; a landscape more reminiscent of the northern tundra than a typical Lithuanian scenery. Here you can see the lynx, wolf, black grouse, the largest triturus in Europe, and there are even 46 protected bird species!
