Halloween in a manor

Halloween is still a rather unusual phenomenon in Lithuania, given that we simply don’t have any timehonoured traditions associated with it. Jacko'lanterns and ghostly labyrinths remain a somewhat exotic sight here, and Halloween traditions are only beginning to take root. This, however, is a privilege! It means that we can all actively contribute to creating a uniquely Lithuanian Halloween. In fact, this holiday’s local enthusiasts are already on it. Tours around Lithuania’s numerous manors and estates are easily among the most exciting initiatives in this connection. Each of these buildings and building ensembles has its own history, unique features, and legends. Halloween is the ideal occasion to experience them. Burbiškis in Anykščiai, Ilzenbergas in Rokiškis, and the famous Pakruojis Manor – these are just a handful of special places that are slowly giving rise to bona fide homespun Lithuanian Halloween.
