The Angel Museum, part of the Anykščiai Arts Center, is considered the first museum of its kind in Lithuania. The exhibition is constantly growing – new winged beings are regularly added to the museum.

It was founded thanks to art historian Beatričė Kleizaitė-Vasaris, who donated her collection of angels, consisting of more than one hundred works in painting, graphics, and sculpture.

The first angel in her collection was a painting by Jonas Daniliauskas, Angel Embracing a Woman, gifted by the writer Jurga Ivanauskaitė. Later, angels began to “fly in” from other artists, friends, acquaintances, and even foreign embassies.

Today, the exhibition features angels made of glass, clay, wood, and more, created by both professional and folk artists. One of the museum’s angels is said to fulfill the wishes entrusted to it by visitors, as it is believed that angels were once sent to Earth to help people.
