Klaipėda’s Old Town is a charismatic part of the city with old buildings ranging from the 13th to the 18th century. Some feature picturesque half-timbered constructions that catch the eye of the viewer. The beautiful German-influenced architecture can be admired in the Klaipėda’s Old Town square. The sound of the Carillon tower, or a visit to the music and drama theatres, or the Art Exhibition Palace, offer a different kind of Klaipėda’s sightseeing experience.
As the only sea port in the country, Klaipėda is a home to Kopgalis Fort complex, which houses the Maritime Museum, Aquarium, and the Dolphinarium. The Dolphinarium is the only one of this kind in the entire Eastern part of the Baltic coast. Visitors come from all over the world to enjoy dolphin shows or participate in healing therapies.

Easy to Reach
Klaipėda is the northernmost ice-free port of the Baltic sea and can be reached by sea all year long. The city is an important Lithuanian transportation hub which connects sea, land, and railway routes from East to West. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the nearest international airport and about three hours to reach the capital from the city by car.
A Maritime Culture
The sea holds an important part in the hearts of the people of Klaipėda and there are interesting places in the city where visitors can fall in love with the maritime world too. The Maritime Museum is an exceptional place where tourists can learn about the marine nature and the history of navigation. There is a lot of fish from both Lithuania and all around the world to admire there too. Alternatively, dolphins can be observed at the shows held at the Dolphinarium. The popular annual Klaipėda sea festival is where people experience the maritime traditions during three-day long festivities.
Beaches
The beautiful sand beach of Smiltynė is favoured by locals and tourists in the summer. Smiltynė beach is in UNESCO world heritage list as part of the Curonian Spit. In the Northern part of Klaipėda, there are Giruliai and Melnragė beaches that are big and popular places to visit. The conference attendees get access to the beautiful sandy beaches to relax.
