Collecting sunsets in Nida

Standing on the Parnidis Dune, located on the Curonian Spit at over 50 metres above sea level, you can observe a phenomenon not visible from anywhere else in Lithuania, namely – the sun rising from, and setting down into, the water. Seeing this is a must for every visitor of this unique peninsula.
More information

Casting your gaze across the desert-like landscape from the lookout perched on top of the dune, you can take in some truly exceptional views. Not just the alien beauty of the shifting dune itself – pushed 0.5-10 metres to the east by westerly gales every year – but also a gorgeous panorama of the resort town Nida, which includes a dreamy lighthouse. When the sky is clear, you can also spot the Horn of Bulvikis, the widest section of the Spit, and the fairytale-like Ventė Cape off in the distance.

Worth a visit in every season, the Parnidis Dune can be explored by hiking the 2 kilometre trail winding around its circumference. This will give you the perfect opportunity to enjoy – and contemplate – some amazing vistas, stopping over at the massive sundial to arrest time, if only for a moment.
