Bird watching

Birds are truly magical creatures – it feels as though we could watch them for hours on end. Perhaps that’s because we envy their gift for soaring through the air, effortlessly. To many people’s minds, the sight of a bird in flight naturally attaches itself to the idea of freedom. Given that, it’s no surprise that more and more of them are getting into ornithology and, more specifically – bird watching. If you’ve never tried it before, spring is the perfect time to get started. Around the middle of April, a mass migration begins to pick up steam, with multitudes of different bird species coming back to their native breeding grounds in Lithuania. Hands down, the most impressive views can be enjoyed at the Nemunas Delta Regional Park, where the sky and the water below ripple with birds, at times making it difficult to tell which way is up! That being said, there are several other spots offering truly reathtaking panoramas, as well. Rest assured, a visit to Čepkeliai or Žuvintas will be an unforgettable experience that you’ll want to repeat, time and again!
