More information
While you need a special permit to explore the beauty of this protected area, the wooden Lake Žuvintas Nature Trail is open to all visitors. The trail is only 500 metres long, so it’s not that adventurous of a walk, but the views that the observation tower at the end of it offers are simply spectacular.

The wetlands surrounding Lake Žuvintas are one of the most important habitats in Lithuania for a wide range of bird species, including significant populations of Marsh Harrier, Little Crake, Common Crane and Bluethroat. And while you need a special permit to explore the beauty of this protected area, the wooden Lake Žuvintas Nature Trail is open to all visitors. The trail is only 500 metres long, so it’s not that adventurous of a walk, but the views that the observation tower at the end of it offers are simply spectacular. For the best experiences, it’s worth packing a pair of binoculars, especially during the bird migration season in autumn and spring. After all, Lake Žuvintas is one of only two places in Lithuania, where you can spot the extremely rare Aquatic Warbler.
