More information
Liškiava Church of the Holy Trinity and Dominican Monastery form one of the most distinctive Baroque ensembles in southern Lithuania, overlooking the River Nemunas for more than 300 years.

One of the site’s most unusual features is the church crypt. During early 21st-century restoration works, the remains of Dominican monks were placed in transparent glass coffins, offering a quiet reflection on monastic life and the theme of memento mori.

In addition to the preserved 18th-century Dominican crypt, visitors can explore a liturgical heritage exhibition housed in the monastery. The exhibition presents church objects as well as historical artifacts reflecting different periods of the monastery’s past.

The church is also notable for its historic pipe organ, once played by Konstantinas Čiurlionis, the father of the renowned Lithuanian composer and artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis.

During the warmer season, the ensemble can also be reached by boat from the resort town of Druskininkai, offering a scenic approach along the Nemunas River. The former monastery now provides accommodation for visitors and rents spaces for cultural events and retreats all year long.
