Minister of Economy and Innovation Edvinas Grikšas notes that state investment in representing the tourism and hospitality sector is paying off many times over — Lithuania is becoming visible as a modern, bold country that attracts gourmets from around the world.
“Lithuania’s gastronomic culture has been experiencing a real breakthrough for some time now, and the third edition of the Michelin Guide is yet another strong proof that the talent and craftsmanship of our chefs meet the highest global standards. I would like to thank all the restaurants included in the Michelin Guide, as they not only create unique experiences for their guests, but also contribute to the growth of gastronomic tourism and strengthen the country’s economic potential,” says E. Grikšas.
Olga Gončarova, General Manager of the national tourism development agency Keliauk Lietuvoje, emphasises that the third edition of the MICHELIN Guide Lithuania crowns an exceptionally active and successful period for Lithuanian gastronomy.
“This has been an exceptional year for Lithuanian gastronomy. Recently, our country’s culinary potential was highly rated by experts from the influential European magazine Falstaff, and for the first time in history, our team of chefs competed among the world’s culinary elite at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or competition. The recent Baltic Gastro Summit once again proved that Lithuania is becoming an important platform for discussions about the restaurants of the future and the hospitality sector as a whole. And the third Michelin Guide is the pinnacle of the consistent work of the entire community,” says O. Gončarova.
She points out that research shows that as many as six out of ten travellers are inclined to extend their stay in a country if it has Michelin-rated places. Therefore, the recognition received today is a powerful tool that enables Lithuania to speak loudly and confidently to the world about its unique flavours and the hospitality culture it is creating.
This year’s presentation of the MICHELIN Guide Lithuania will culminate in a gala evening at the new Saulė Hall of Vilnius Railway Station. The event, “Exclusive Celebration: Welcoming the Third Selection,” will bring together the country’s leading chefs, restaurant owners, food critics and international guests.
