Located in one of the city’s oldest buildings, the Local History Museum of Utena boasts a rich collection of artefacts, a wide range of exhibitions, and a unique opportunity for visitors to see both the old and contemporary Utena with the help of smart technologies.

The nearly century-old Local History Museum of Utena (LHM) is situated in one of the city’s oldest buildings which was the scene of, among other things, the very first session of the Utena Municipality back in 1918. The museum has a large collection, which in 2019 consisted of 77,434 exhibits. Its current look came together in 2000-01, following a major overhaul and reconstruction, whereby the twin buildings were joined together and the exhibit storage premises were moved to a former shelter. Since two of the museum’s rooms are dedicated to temporary exhibitions, you can find something new here every month. In addition to implementing scientific-research and publishing initiatives, the LHM offers visitors an opportunity to see both the old and contemporary Utena with the help of smart technologies. It also organises and hosts educational and cultural events.
